If he doesn’t get his way he can become violent. He can be cold and emotionless, using anyone to achieve his ends. He is not above killing for a petty want.
History: Riley was selected as a test candidate for psychic research when he was seven years old. He went through the risky operation, and became one of the strongest psychics in the world. He was sent to be researched and to learn how to control his new powers. Within a few months he had the entire staff wrapped around his fingers. It was simple to control someone when you could glance into their head and see their every want.
Three years after his surgery, a young girl, Annabel, came to the facility. She instantly became an irritation. Her mind was better guarded than the guards and scientists, but he could hear enough to tell she wanted out, she wanted to go home. She hated the scientists, the guards, the tests. And she hated him, which shocked him more than anything. He had never been hated before, and he didn’t like it.
As the years passed he grew stronger, surpassing Dr. Allen, the man who had created the psychic program. He was put in charge of the other psychics, of Annabel and the people whom the surgery had only partly taken to. When he was about twenty years old, he heard Annabel’s plan to escape in her mind. He quickly made arrangements for extra guards to be stationed at her door. The night of her escape, he met her and tore the map she had drawn. She tried to push past him, but she’d always been weaker. He beat her, and did all he could to break her spirit. He left her, bleeding and crying, and ordered the guards outside to keep her from leaving.
Just before dawn, he was woken by a guard. Annabel had managed to escape despite the extra security. Dr. Allen was furious. Tired of his lectures, Valentine decided it was time for the doctor to disappear. Two weeks later, Valentine was in charge of psychic operations.
The only threat to his total control now is Annabel, and the government secrets she took with her.
